- It is a hybrid product that uses remote sensing and rain gauge stations. Offers monthly averaged precipitation rate values (mm/day) obtained from 5 kinds of satellite estimates (GPI, OPI, SSM/I scattering, SSM/I emission, and MSU) along with gauge data. Gaps over high latitudes may exist due to poor coverage. It reports rainfall and snowfall rate and precipitation occurrence. Climate normals (monthly, 1981-2010) are also available.
