- It is a hybrid product that uses remote sensing, rain gauge stations, and sounding observations. Current version (V2.3) product has been used to assess global precipitation, as a reference dataset for Arctic precipitation, and to study decadal variability of Arctic precipitation. Considered to be a Climate Data Record. Improvements to some limitations applicable to the North coming in V3.X (see below).
